Philip C. Federico is a founding and senior partner with Schochor, Federico and Staton, P.A.

Mr. Federico is certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and has been elected to the American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA).
“As a founding member of Schochor, Federico and Staton, I take great pride in what we accomplish for our clients. Since the beginning, we have worked hard to represent the interests of our clients, and because of our success, we’ve become recognized leaders in the field of Medical Malpractice, Environmental Law and Class Actions/Mass Torts.”

For the last 25 years, Mr. Federico has maintained an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory™—the highest rating an attorney can receive for legal ability and ethical standards. He has also been named a Maryland Super Lawyer™ every year since 2006, and has been designated as one of the Top 100 Attorneys Maryland from 2010 to present. Additionally, Mr. Federico was recognized as the 2014 Baltimore Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers®.
Mr. Federico has enjoyed great success as a Medical Malpractice litigator over the last 35 plus years with many verdicts and settlements in excess of one million dollars to his credit. However, Mr. Federico’s largest jury award ($39 million dollars) came in the earlier part of his career in the Police Excessive Force case of Alston v. Baltimore City Police.

While continuing to pursue a career in medical malpractice litigation, in recent years, Mr. Federico has branched out into Class Action Law and Mass Torts. He led the steering committee in the Earl Bradley MD, sexual abuse case which resulted in a settlement of $123 million dollars. Mr. Federico is co-chairing a consortium of attorneys and law firms in Florida and South Carolina in the Opioid Litigation where they represent more than 40 counties and cities. Mr. Federico also heads a consortium of lawyers and law firms in the JUUL Litigation where they represent many counties and cities in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida and South Carolina. Currently, Mr. Federico is lead counsel in the environmental case of Cuppels v. Mountaire, involving contaminated groundwater and polluted air of approximately 7,300 people.

In addition to his eminent legal career, Mr. Federico is also active in his community. Since 1995, he has served as a trustee of the Boys’ Latin School of Maryland (President in 2007 and 2008, Emeritus Trustee 2009 to Present). He has also served on the Board of the Associated Italian American Charities of Maryland since 1993, receiving the “Bud Ecalano Award” in 1998. He now also serves on the Board of the Living Classroom Foundation.
