Steven Barna, MD, CLCP

Dr. Barna is a Board Certified, Harvard trained Interventional Pain Physician and a Certified Life Care Planner (CLCP) with a strong clinical background in Musculoskeletal Care. He is an Editorial Board Member for Pain Physician, the Journal of Life Care Planning and Rehab Pro Journal, as well as a Reviewer for the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. He has been recognized on Becker’s Orthopedic and Spine Review List of 150 Pain Management Physicians to Know.

Prior to coming to Florida, Dr. Barna spent nearly 10 years at Harvard Medical School including roles as Assistant Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology, as well as Medical Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Pain Center. Dr. Barna also previously served as an Interventional Spine and Pain Physician, as well as Partner at Florida Orthopaedic Institute, the largest multi-specialty Orthopedic group in the state of Florida. He is a member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, North American Spine Society, International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals / International Academy of Life Care Planners Section, and American Academy of Physician Life Care Planners.

Dr. Barna has significant experience performing utilization reviews of workers compensation pre-authorization cases, disability cases, and peer reviews for causality and investigational procedures. Dr. Barna’s clinical areas of expertise include conservative and nonsurgical interventional care of spine conditions and other chronic pain conditions. He is currently in clinical practice at Neurosurgical Partners, with offices in Tampa and Sarasota, FL.
